Hearts Beating In Time – the solo project of Berlin-based Maltese singer-songwriter Rebecca Theuma – perfectly blends lo-fi electronic dream-pop and single ‘Simone’s’ announces the artist onto the roster of independent label Reckless Yes. The track is set for a digital release across all platforms on 30 October 2020. XS Noize is pleased to exclusively premiere the video today!

Bringing together echoey vocals, moving beats and layered synth sounds to deliver hopelessly romantic lyrics against the backdrop of ‘80s influenced sounds – achieving the sense of letting go whilst embracing heartbreak through dancing and simple lyrics.

Of the track, Rebecca said: “This song tells the story of two close friends wandering the streets of their new home; the city of Berlin. They meet at a bar called ‘Simone’s Kleine Kneipe’ and spend the night walking around in the cold until they can’t go any further and sit on a bench talking about everything and nothing until the sun comes up. The song is a result of this night-long conversation.”

Hearts Beating In Time melodiously embodies metamodern sensibilities fuelled by a fascination with the struggle between feelings of hope and futility, the disappointment of losing love, and the highs of fleeting encounters, along with the naivety of unknowingly finding meaning in the meaningless.
