VIDEO PREMIERE: Dan & Drum - "Golden Showers (The Trump Song)" - Watch Now

Inventive indie-rock duo Dan & Drum come off like mad scientists in the studio. Hailing from the shrubby suburbs of Los Angeles, childhood buds vocalist/guitarist Daniel Schechter and drummer Phillip Thompson, have a special brand of experimental indie rock. The two alchemists craft songs that bring rock, soul, folk, and R&B collectively together within their sonic inflexions.

Today, the pair reveals their new unapologetic single and music video for “Golden Showers (The Trump Song)”. It’s not just any political tune, but THE anti-Trump anthem we can all get behind. Balancing on a tightrope of absurdity and reality, Dan & Drum have produced the most accessible and substantial politically driven song in recent times.

Sonically, the unabashed pop-rock endeavour offers minimalist guitar riffs and crispy drums while conveyed by Schechter’s silky-smooth, springy vocals. Lyrically, the song hooks listeners instantly with its coaxing first line; “They’re gonna call it collusion, that’ll be the conclusion.” Schechter, a history/political junkie, was influenced by the readings of “The Fire and Fury” and “The Devil’s Bargain” in developing the song’s overall story.

Schechter exposes this about the track opposing the President’s actions, “One morning, I woke up with a phrase running through my head; ‘They’re gonna call it collusion, that’ll be the conclusion’. The melody wrote itself, and I endeavored to tell the Trump story in full. ‘Golden Showers (The Trump Song)’ expresses the complete story of Trump, and how ‘him and Putin were in cahoots to do in the European Union since ’87’. It articulates the story succinctly, with humor and respect for the truth.”
