UB40 Announce 40th Anniversary Show at The Royal Albert Hall

Birmingham’s world-famous reggae stars UB40 are set to mark their 40th anniversary with a concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Monday, 25th June 2018.

UB40-LONDON-BLUEPRINT The band will play many of their seventeen UK Top 10 hit singles, including ‘Kingston Town’, ‘Food For Thought’, ‘One In Ten’, ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You’, ‘Don’t Break My Heart’ and ‘Sing Our Own Song’ and, of course, ‘Red, Red Wine’, amongst many other fan favourites.

Featuring five of UB40’s six founding members, Robin Campbell, Brian Travers, Jimmy Brown, Earl Falconer and Norman Hassan, and long-time members Duncan Campbell, Martin Meredith, Lawrence Parry and Tony Mullings, the group’s 40th anniversary concert will follow the release of the band’s first new studio in over four years, which is due for release May 2018 via Pledge Music.

UB40 formed in 1978, naming themselves after the unemployment benefit form, before releasing their debut album ‘Signing Off’ in August 1980 – considered by many to be one of the greatest reggae albums ever released by a British band.

It was the start of a career that has since seen UB40 have forty UK Top 40 hit singles and – with sales of over 100 million records – seen their albums reside in the UK’s Top 75 album chart for a combined period of over eleven years, making UB40 one of the most successful British groups of all-time.

UB40 co-vocalist and guitarist Robin Campbell said, “Our 40th anniversary concert at The Royal Albert Hall will be a bit special for us because it’s not only a celebration of 40 years as a band, it’s also testament to the loyalty of our incredible fan base, every generation, young and old, and our salute to them.”

A pre-sale for UB40’s 40th anniversary concert at The Royal Albert Hall begins at 9.00am on Wednesday, 15th November, before tickets go on general sale at 9.00am on Friday, 17th November.
