U2 NEW ALBUM LATEST

Another day and more U2 album rumours have been circulating around various news websites and fan forums. This has been the longest break between U2 albums in their history, their last album was 2009’s epic ‘No Line On The Horizon‘.

According to the The Sun tabloid, U2 are planning to release the new album later this year, possibly in November. This would be their 13th studio album. The Sun also reported that the band could perform at London’s Roundhouse in September as part of the iTunes Festival.

A source told The Sun, “The U2 comeback is very much on for this year. This album has been a real struggle for them to make. It’s taken a long time and Bono didn’t find it easy. But they’re confident now and are convinced the wait has been worth it.”

The majority of U2 fans on the forums are fed up with all the rumours and waiting, they want U2 to hurry up with the new album and put it out and to stop worrying about being ‘relevant’, ‘The biggest band in the world’, ‘having a hit single’ etc.

Fans hopes have been dashed more than once since the release of their last album, Bono said a companion album to ‘No Line on The Horizon‘ called ‘Songs Of Ascent‘ would be released quickly, but  never was released. Hopes were built up earlier this year with the release of free download ‘Invisible‘ which went down very well with fans, who hoped the new album would follow soon after, but sadly for the fans, it didn’t.

The band formed in 1976 and are all in their early 50s and frontman Bono said in an interview earlier this year he felt they are struggling to stay relevant.

He told BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe: “We’re on the verge of irrelevance. You have to make stuff relevant to you and where you’re at, make an honest account of what you’re going through. If that’s relevant to other people, great. But we don’t know.”
