TRACK PREMIERE: Sugarwolf - Changes

Derry/Belfast based quartet Sugarwolf are no strangers to the DIY graft of the Irish and UK rock scenes – Led by frontwoman Emma Gallagher the band previously secured a reputation as one of Ireland’s most exciting rock outfits and plan to continue to do so. Sharing the stage on tours with the likes of Fightstar, Black Peaks, Queen Zee, Employed To Serve and Skindred helped earn the band the reputation as one of the best live acts in the country and have since gained the support and endorsement deals with Jägermeister, Orange Amps and Ruach Music.

Sugarwolf had an exciting first year as a band with a number of tours across the UK and Ireland including festival appearances at Camden Rocks and headlining a stage at Stendhal Festival, securing them as one of the BBC’s ‘Future Headliners’. In November 2019 the band released their new single ‘Scared Of The Dark’ to a multitude of press and spins from BBC Radio 1 in support.

Citing influence from the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Wolf Alice and Lady Gaga their diverse and uniquely organic brand of rock looks fixed to set them apart from the pack of rising hopefuls in 2020. 2019 was a year filled with festivals and headline Irish shows in support of single releases. It also saw the band make trips to the UK to play the likes of Camden Rocks. 2019 came to a close as we played a string of shows with our friends ‘Sick Love’

2020 Started with a bang. Following the release of our 2nd single ‘Scared of the Dark’ at the tail end of 2019 we started the year featured as one of ATL: BBC’s Future Headliners, showcased at OUTPUT Belfast and played support to NI giants And So I Watch You From Afar. With plans shaping up nicely towards the release of our new single ‘CHANGES’ a bulk of Irish shows and exciting festivals were set in place however they are now to be rescheduled.

Love & loss, a topic that will forever be present in a musician or writer’s influence and unfortunately something that most of us will experience – Changes explores the stages of loneliness, acceptance and empowerment. We wanted this to be an uplifting and high energy song but also keep the raw emotion in a story that is filled with heart-ache and new beginnings. – SUGARWOLF
