TRACK PREMIERE: RUPERT STROUD Returns with Anthemic New Single & Announces New Album

Following press and radio acclaim for his previous albums and EPs, singer-songwriter Rupert Stroud is back today with a new single and a new album on 19th July. Along The Low showcases his slow-burning intensity, gritty vocals and anthemic indie-rock melodies, and is the first taste of his upcoming LP of the same name.

“The song has a very uplifting, summery, anthemic vibe to it – but the truth is when I wrote the song I was feeling very low,” explains Stroud. “The lyrics were inspired by long journeys and late nights to and from home on the road, in all weather conditions. By the time I recorded the song my mood had lifted but the meaning of the song still remained. It’s a song about perseverance and positivity in striving for success and achieving your goals. Ultimately, doing what you want to do with your life – regardless of the ups and downs – following your passion and never giving up. The life of a troubadour.”

Hailing from the wilds of the Yorkshire moors, Rupert Stroud’s powerful, rootsy indie rock and beat-driven sound oozes with heartfelt melodies and sweeping choruses. His emotive songs have been played across BBC 6Music, BBC Radio 2 and Radio X, and he’s been heard soundtracking hit shows on ITV, Channel 4 and Sky Sports. Gaining new fans wherever they play, Rupert and his band have opened for James Blunt, Gavin James and Texas and have also shared the stage with Tom Speight, Little Comets and Jake Isaac.

Drawing from the classic rock of his parent’s record collection (inc The Beatles, Tom Petty and Cat Stevens) alongside his own Britpop influences, the songs on Along The Low were recorded with long-time producer and collaborator Will Jackson (Kaiser Chiefs, Embrace) and reverberate with the sound of an artist with a firm control of his craft.
