TRACK PREMIERE: Rupert Stroud – Normal People

TRACK PREMIERE: Rupert Stroud - Normal People

Following rave press and radio support for last year’s Along The Low album and fresh from inking a distribution deal with 3Tone Records, Yorkshire singer-songwriter Rupert Stroud is back today with a slow-burning new track. Normal People sets his stunning vocals against a backdrop of atmospheric and lush late-night balladry and is on all streaming platforms now.

“The song is most definitely inspired by the recent BBC TV adaption of Normal People, but the song is also a reflection of my personal relationship,” explains Stroud. “The ups and the downs and how sometimes you can doubt yourself, your decisions, and how you treated that person you love. But despite it all, you find the courage to fight for the relationship and make it work. “

Hailing from the wilds of the Yorkshire moors, Rupert Stroud’s powerful, rootsy and rugged folk-rock sound oozes with heartfelt melodies, reverb-soaked soundscapes and sweeping choruses. His emotive and intimate songs have been played across BBC 6Music, BBC Radio 2 and Radio X, and he’s been heard soundtracking hit shows on ITV, Channel 4 and Sky Sports. Gaining new fans wherever they play, Rupert and his band have opened for James Blunt, Gavin James and Texas and have also shared the stage with Tom Speight, JP Cooper and Jake Isaac.

After following up the classic rock and Britpop-inspired songs on Along The Low with a pair of soulful and bluesy Springsteen and Blackstreet covers during the lockdown, Normal People is the first song from a batch of new material Stroud will be releasing in early 2021.
