TRACK OF THE DAY: SHELTER - THIS MUST BE LOVE

Forward from the release of their debut electro album Emerge, Rob Bradley and Mark Bebb of Shelter have kept themselves occupied in the studio concentrating on a new collection of songs due out next year, marking what will be their second individual studio album titled “Ascend”. Taken from this forthcoming album is the new single “This Must be Love” which was released on 21/12/15 exclusively on Itunes.

It is an all out energetic affair, showcasing the boys skills as producers of electronic music with crystal clear sounds, punching bass lines and built in happiness to boot that would set any Eurodisco dance floor on fire. The track, previously described as “Jean-Michel Jarre meets Van Halen” instantly catches with the first bars sounding like samples lifted from Halens 1983 hit “Jump”. The catchy Bass drops in with a crisp echoing vocal from Bebb and an Abba like piano bridge accompaniment. The track powers along with an array of interesting synthesized sounds building through until its close and becomes increasingly infectious with every listen.

On the whole this is a well crafted well produced pop song in Shelters meticulously polished style, albeit slightly annoying (on the first couple of spins) with the dated sounding main riff , but as previously expressed it will find its way into your head and will make you hum along or tap whether you really want to or not. The boys certainly have the talent to venture into territories that may not just be as safe as this track, but they make music they enjoy and don’t succumb to the pressure of being the next big “cool” dance act, something which is a commendable trait and more power to them for staying true to that
