Diane (Don’t Point That Thing At Me) is the second single from Low Cut Connie’s critically acclaimed HI HONEY LP. The track sees Finnemore, Weiner and Co explore a world of swirling, sixties pop fueled by paranoia, loss and a femme fatale that just might be losing it.
Produced by the legendary Tommy Brenneck (Charles Bradley, Alabama Shakes, Black Lips) at Dunham Studios in Brooklyn, “Diane” echoes flavours from The Animals to Ennio Morricone and doesn’t shy away from Finnemore’s big choruses or pop sensibilities.
HI HONEY (Contender Records) was a dark horse critics-favorite at the end of 2015, praised by everyone from MOJO to Rolling Stone. Numerous reviewers, including NPR / Sound Opinions listed the record as among the 10 best of the year. Most unbelievably though, President Barack Obama personally selected Low Cut Connie’s song “Boozophilia” for his Presidential Playlist. Finnemore was subsequently interviewed on BBC TV about it.
Low Cut Connie formed in 2010 when singer/songwriters Adam Weiner (Philadelphia PA) and Daniel Finnemore (Birmingham UK) got stuck in a freight elevator together for four hours and decided to join forces to create their own brand of righteous rock and roll. In 2011, they released their debut album Get Out the Lotion, landing on NPR / Fresh Air’s Top Ten Albums of the Year and legendary critic Robert Christgau’s Top Ten Songs of the Year lists. Their second album, Call Me Sylvia (2012) included the bands’ biggest song to date “Boozophilia”, named one of Rolling Stone’s top 50 songs of 2012. The success of this record prompted an invitation by Jack White to play the grand reopening of his Third Man Records venue.
