Ahead of their UK tour this December, The Twang have added an extra date to their run of shows and will play O2 Academy2 Sheffield on Friday 14 December. This tiny gig will kick off their tour and is the climax to what has been a great year for the band, who have been in the studio working on new material and played a memorable set supporting Shed Seven at Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl this summer.
Playing just a handful of gigs in December, The Twang have already confirmed live dates in Glasgow, Manchester and London, as well as a hometown show at O2 Academy Birmingham – now an annual affair which has quickly become a sell-out and a guaranteed Christmas blow-out for the band’s loyal fans on home turf. This addition of an intimate show in Sheffield will be a chance for fans lucky enough to get tickets to see them in the smallest room they’ve played in years.
2017 was an important year for The Twang – it marked the tenth anniversary of their celebrated debut album Love It When I Feel Like This. A monumental and influential time, 2007 saw The Twang become the most important new band of the year with every A&R man chasing their signature and the “who’s who’s” of music press touting them as THE ones to watch. The Twang who’ve always put their heart and soul into their live performance and never underestimate the importance of the people that really matter, the fans, took to the road for a huge UK tour of 12 venues, playing the entire record, in full, from start to finish, for the very first time. And what a celebration it was; beautiful scenes – great music and fans singing in chorus long after the stage went black.
