The Murder Capital have shared a new video for their track ‘Crying’ alongside details of their biggest UK and European tour to date, ‘The Clown’s Reflection Tour’.

‘Crying’ is taken from ‘Gigi’s Recovery’. The Murder Capital’s second album, it was released earlier this year to huge critical acclaim and commercial success. The record went to Number 1 in Ireland and the Top 20 in the UK. The video was directed by Pump from the band. Below he explains the video –

“Early on, Crying solidified itself as a track that steered the direction of the record. Crying was birthed in the surreal, from the art we were consuming and the environment that was summer 2020. When that direction was revealing itself, so were the first accessible A.I. visual generators.

“Something about nature depicted in this fashion, captured what inspired us in our pursuit towards a more textured and mosaic approach. I continued to picture these distorted hills and compressed waves as the track developed. So when it was discussed that it wouldn’t be a single, I made a point of making a video myself to portray what I’d been seeing the whole time.”

And James explains the meaning behind the song – “The greatest determination I’ve found is in the love of a true friendship. The meaning behind Crying is quite literally about holding onto that connection for dear life, whether yours or a friend’s. When your friend needs you, you gotta be there for them. No hesitation. No matter what.”

2023 has been a breakout year for The Murder Capital. Alongside ‘Gigi’s Recovery’, they played a 16-date US tour, as well as appearing at Coachella for the first time. The band recently headlined The Great Escape in Brighton, and this summer have a packed schedule with over thirty festival performances including Glastonbury, Primavera, Reading and Leeds, Latitude, Electric Picnic and End Of The Road.

The upcoming European tour is the band’s biggest to date and culminates in a headline show at Dublin’s 3Olymia Theatre. Tickets go on pre-sale for O2 priority members and The Murder Capital fans on Wednesday, 31st May and Live Nation on 1st June. General sale begins 2nd June at 10 am.
