THE CRIBS - Unveil documentary shot in collaboration with Vevo

The Cribs have today unveiled a documentary shot in collaboration with Vevo as the second instalment in their music documentary series ‘Off The Record’.

Off the Record with The Cribs sees brothers Ryan, Gary and Ross Jarman talk through their influential career to date with esteemed journalist Gordon Burns – everything from their violin lessons at school and their first record deal right through to recording their latest album ’24-7 Rock Star Shit’ with legendary underground engineer Steve Albini, and playing their biggest ever headline shows to date. Off The Record with The Cribs also includes a mix of never before seen archive band footage, home movie footage and session footage of new album tracks ‘What Have You Done For Me’, ‘Rainbow Ridge’ and ‘In Your Palace’.

On their new documentary, Gary Jarman of The Cribs commented: “As a band of brothers we have an archive stretching back literally decades, and at this point in time we thought it would be good to show people that side of us”

He continues: “We were really hoping to work with someone who would let us talk and be ourselves and be comfortable with that – that old school journalistic approach which coaxes so much more out of the subject than the modern way which seems to place emphasis on ‘banter’ and big personalities. Gordon is a consummate professional, comes from a political background in fact, and it was the easiest and most conversational interview we have maybe ever done. He’s interviewed 8 prime ministers”

Off the Record sees Vevo delve behind the music with some of the biggest bands and acts in the world, giving fans new and unprecedented access to the stories and lives of their favourite musicians – with exclusive live performances to boot.

Vevo’s Vice President of CC&P Claudia de Wolff added: “We launched Vevo: Off the Record in May this year, kicking off the series with Kasabian, and we’re now back with The Cribs. It’s great to produce something with a real mix of performance and narrative that we can tailor to individual artists – giving fans an opportunity to hear the stories behind the music. We were really pleased that Steve Albini agreed to mix the audio for the sessions, to really tie the whole project together.”

Off the Record with The Cribs premieres on Vevo on August 4. ’24-7 Rock Star Shit’ will be released 11th August.
