THE CORONAS – TO RELEASE ‘HOW THIS GOES’ EP ON 29TH JUNE

THE CORONAS WILL RELEASE ‘JUST LIKE THAT’, THE FIRST SINGLE FROM THEIR FORTHCOMING ALBUM ‘THE LONG WAY’, ON 16TH FEBRUARY

The Coronas hurtled into 2015 with a sold out show at the 14,000 capacity Dublin 3 Arena. It was a homecoming show of sorts since the band moved to London little over a year ago. With 3 double platinum albums on their own indie label in Ireland under their belts, the band was quickly snapped up by Island Records and signed a publishing deal with Big Life.

Forthcoming EP ‘How This Goes’, which was produced by Eliott James (Kaiser Chiefs, Two Door Cinema Club, Noah and the Whale) is released on 29th June. It sees the band team up with pals Hudson Taylor for second track ‘Just The Right Time’. Front man Danny O’Reilly says of the collaboration: “We’ve known Harry and Alfie for a few years now. Having performed together, written together and spent numerous hours in their lovely company, recording with them was unsurprisingly easy. We recorded the song live with just the piano and 3 voices and it worked really well.”

Lead single and title track ‘How This Goes’ is a boisterous statement of intent, a stadium bound anthem for which The Coronas have made their name in Ireland. Stadium stages are not unfamiliar to them – having previously supported Sir Paul McCartney, The Script, Justin Timberlake and Pink on tour.

Last October they played 3 sold-out headline shows in the UK in London, Glasgow and Manchester and then March saw them embark on a full UK headline tour the culminated in a sold-out show at London’s Koko. This summer they will play Dot to Dot, T in the Park and more festivals, yet to be announced.

The Coronas journey began when childhood best friends Danny (the son of Irish folk legend Mary Black) and bassist Graham Knox formed a band at school with Conor. They played their first gig aged 15. By the time they reached uni, they had recruited Dave and had called themselves The Coronas. The last eight years has seen them establish themselves as one of Ireland’s best-loved bands and sell out Ireland’s biggest venues.

“The last eight years have been a blast,” says Knoxy. “We look back and can’t believe what we’ve achieved. The highlights? Too many to mention. But for me, meeting McCartney when we supported him. He asked who was the bassist. I said me. He said, ‘Okay, here’s my advice. Don’t break up.”

“And we haven’t,” laughs Danny. “We can’t. Paul McCartney said so.”
