SUNDARA KARMA - today release revamped version of their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Youth Is Only ever Fun in Retrospect’

Sundara Karma today release the revamped version of their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Youth Is Only ever Fun in Retrospect’ (Chess Club / RCA). First released in its original form in January of this year, the new format sees three new songs added to the running order, showing fans a carefully reshaped version of the album that showcases the huge leaps the band continue to make as songwriters and artists this year.

The first of the new tracks to be unveiled, current single ‘Explore’ is currently playlisted on Radio 1 and Radio X. This is followed today with the unveiling of ‘Lakhey’ and ‘Another Word For Beautiful’. Watch the video for ‘Explore’ here.

The release of the newly formated ‘Youth Is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect’ continues what’s shaping up to be a busy summer for the Reading four-piece, as they hit the UK festival having already played Glastonbury and Barn On The Farm in recent weeks, before heading on to play Blissfields, Truck, Y Not and a homecoming turn on the second stage at Reading Festival.

Already armed to the teeth with a fearsome arsenal of solid gold anthems that view classic noughties rock melodies through the modern indie prism of Arcade Fire and The Maccabees, with ‘Explore’ Sundara Karma have yet again confounded expectations and effortlessly crafted another 24 carat, future indie / art-rock classic. With the release of their acclaimed debut in January, Sundara Karma are already being hailed as the bright future of alt-rock, a reputation built on a clash of exotic and ordinary. ‘Explore’ sees them fully bearing their indie disco teeth, weaving four minutes of pop-perfect. Like the best in the genre, the single effortlessly brings together the exotic and the mundane, the bravado and the alienation of teenage life as charismatic frontman Oscar Pollock plays on the silvery thread of rock ‘n’ roll androgyny that run through Bowie, Bolan and Suede.

Last month, Sundara Karma also unveiled a string of dates, with a headline date at Brixton Academy another indicator of just how far the Reading four-piece they have come in the past 12 months. Due to phenomenal demand, new dates have today been added in Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle and Manchester.
