SORBET releases new video for 'Born Purple' feat: Mícheál Keating (Bleeding Heart Pigeons)

Born Purple features crystalline falsetto vocals from Mícheál Keating (Bleeding Heart Pigeons), a unique singer with a background in farming in County Limerick, Ireland.

“The imagery in the verse comes from a time I saw a cow die of milk fever – a fatal calcium deficiency she developed trying to provide milk for her newly born calf. My Dad and I did all we could to save her. She was stretched out on the grass, hyperventilating – a slow death.” he explains.

This grim scene serves as an allegory for the overarching theme of This Was Paradise, an album about the environment and the effects of humanity’s imbalanced relationship with it. The music video, also created by Keating, investigates this environmental theme through the lens of his local surroundings.

The video features a generative collage of clips shot in and around Limerick, depicting energy flows across various natural, industrial, financial and informational systems in our world. From the kinetic energy transfer of a wind turbine to the purchase of the album itself on Bandcamp, the video examines the multiplicity of transactions occurring in our environment every second and ponders their cumulative impact on the landscape.
