Shed Seven’s new album ‘A Matter of Time’ on course to be their first ever number one

Shed Seven are on the cusp of a remarkable achievement as their new album ‘A Matter of Time’ is flying high at #1 in the midweeks. It’s also a matter of local pride as the band are set to become the first artist from their home city of York to top the UK album – both achievements making this the perfect way for Shed Seven to kickstart their 30th anniversary year.

Vocalist Rick Witter says, “Can you believe that after 30 years in the business, this album will be our highest charting entry? We are also in reach of potentially getting our first number one album, we’d be the first band from York to reach the top! Thank you for all the support over the years and for ‘A Matter of Time’. It’s genuinely appreciated. We have lots more planned throughout the year.”

The ‘A Matter of Time’ album campaign has been on fire since the start. All album release shows? Sold-out. All test pressings? Sold-out. Limited edition Blood Records vinyl edition? Sold-out. Live edition of the album? Sold-out. And they’re keeping the momentum up as they’re now in the midst of a 10-date record store tour, which will take them all over the land. This weekend, they also hit the Sunday Brunch studio for an interview and a performance.

There’s still time to support Shed Seven’s quest for #1. ‘A Matter of Time’ is available to buy HERE, with a range of album bundles and a brand new ‘Going For Gold’ coloured vinyl exclusive to Banquet Records and limited to just 300 copies. And as they stand on the edge of achieving a new peak, Shed Seven have also looked back to the roots with a deluxe digital download format which compiles ‘A Matter of Time’ with a stripped-back unplugged take on their fan favourite debut album ‘Change Giver’.

While Shed Seven has been a mainstay on the album charts over the past 30 years, their highest-charting record to date is 1999’s hits collection ‘Going For Gold’ which peaked at #7, although ‘A Maximum High’, ‘Let It Ride’ and ‘Instant Pleasures’ all also hit the Top 10. As one spin of ‘A Matter of Time’ proves, Shed Seven now have a new catalogue of songs which matches their landmark anthems such as ‘Chasing Rainbows’, ‘Going For Gold’ and ‘On Standby’.

Shed Seven will play ‘A Matter of Time’ in full during three album release shows this month. This summer, they will celebrate their 30th anniversary by playing two homecoming shows at the Museum Gardens in York, both of which rapidly sold out and feature special guest Peter Doherty, who features on the new album’s closing song ‘Throwaways’. Expect more anniversary celebrations to be announced soon.
