Scottish Instrumental Post-Rock Quartet 'VASA' Announce Debut Album ‘Colours’

Glasgow instrumental post-rock quartet VASA are pleased to announce they will release their debut album ‘Colours’ on 16th October 2015. The band will be appearing at Mugstock, ArcTanGent and Carefully Planned Festival over the coming months with further headline tour dates still to be announced.

You can now stream the first track taken from the record – ‘Fat Ronaldo’ – in full below:

A roaring introduction to the sheer power and raw talent behind this explosive and frantically inventive album, the track serves to highlight their expert use of euphoric, melodic lead lines and constantly changing rhythms that recall both their wealth of Celtic musical heritage and the contemporary influence of peers including Explosions In The Sky, And So I Watch You From Afar, Battles, and Sigur Ros.

With a racing duo of guitars capable of dragging even the most retiring wall-flower kicking and screaming to their feet, if you’re still in your chair by the end of Fat Ronaldo’s pulse-racing crescendo then you can’t possibly be a human being with a functioning soul.

Since forming in October 2011, the band have been making consistent waves in the Scottish music scene, first with deput EP ‘ Never Have Dreams’ through Overlook Records; described as “one of the finest debuts in the post-rock genre in quite some time“ the record combined soaring, atmospheric soundscapes and bursts of frantic energy to exceptional effect, underlining Vasa’s status as one of the most exciting young bands in Scotland.

Early coverage from BBC Radio 1 gave way to tour dates with post-rock heavyweights such as Black Peaks, Deafheaven, Maybeshewill, TTNG and Brontide plus appearances at T in The Park and Wickerman Festival, with further live appearances scheduled and TBA later this year.

2015 Festival Appearances:
7th August – MugStock Festival – Glasgow (Yellow Movement Stage, 6pm)
22nd August – ArcTanGent Festival – Bristol (PX3 Stage, 7:20pm)
18th October – Carefully Planned Festival – Manchester (Aatma)
