Mencap Northern Ireland Ambassador Cormac Neeson is teaming up with musicians from across Northern Ireland to raise money for charity with a special online gig.

With venues shutting their doors due to COVID-19 and charities having to cancel events that fund their services, The Answer frontman has taken upon himself to keep playing music and raise money for two causes close to his heart, Mencap Northern Ireland and Titanic Tigers Special Olympics Club.

Cormac will be joined by Ryan McMullan, JC Stewart, Duke Special, Amy Montgomery and Matt McGinn on Friday 8th May at 7 pm where each artist will be performing a number of their well-known hits. With social distancing measures in place, the singers want to bring music into people’s homes to help some of the most vulnerable children in our communities right now.

Organiser Cormac Neeson commented

“These 2 organisations are both very close to my heart, both doing amazing work here in Northern Ireland and both in need of our support in these strange times, we’re living in. The line up is as strong as you could ever hope for in the real world and every artist is born and bred right here in Northern Ireland. There’s gonna be Cocoons all over the world Rockin out on Friday the 8th May for two great causes. It’s safe to say I’m very excited and you should be too!”

Margaret Kelly, Director of Mencap NI said

“This has been an incredibly difficult time for so many of our families and children. They have faced the loss of routine, the loss of much of their existing support and hugely increased levels of anxiety and isolation. We are working extra hard to provide the support they need and we cannot thank Cormac and all the artists taking part enough for their support at this time. Cormac has been an incredible friend for us at Mencap and we know that this will be a fantastic evening of music and talent. So we would ask everyone to support it to allow us to continue supporting those families who have a child with a learning disability who need us most.

Brian McGuigan, Chairman of the Titanic Tigers added:

“We are blown away that Cromac, has included us in this fundraiser, his son Dabhóg has been with the club since its inception, and all the volunteers & parents are delighted to be involved in the event with some amazing artists. This will help us to provide a fun sporting environment for children from 4-12 with an intellectual difficulty when the club restarts again in hopefully the near future.”
