POLIÇA recently announced a brand new double A-side 7” for Record Store Day 2017. Today, they share “Lipstick Stains”. “Lipstick Stains” straddles both the dancefloor and the living room floor where you’re curled up when the night’s just turning into day, reunited with the mates you briefly lost and gearing up for two whole days of your body clock being recalibrated to a nocturnal setting.

POLIÇA vocalist Channy Leaneagh: “The video was shot in a small studio in northeast Minneapolis by director Adam Dunn using only his iPhone. I’ve always wanted to create a dance piece with my friend Nkechi Njaka, a choreographer and neuroscientist who has mentored me over the years in how to use meditation and movement as a live performer, and someone I really respect and am inspired by constantly. This was an opportunity to create movement with her in real time to a song that I care very much about.”

“Lipstick Stains” features addition production from Boys Noize, while Spank Rock added guest vocals to the corrosive electro-punk of flipside “Still Counts,” which came about during a late-night studio session when Spank Rock was on tour in Minneapolis. The track premiered recently on Lauren Laverne’s BBC 6 Music show (see also: Pitchfork news story).

Channy Leaneagh: “Spank Rock is a rare lyrical gem and true musical artist of the damn finest quality. Naeem is one of my favorite people and artists and I’m sincerely honored to have made something with him.”

Since the release of their breakthrough debut album Give You The Ghost in 2012, POLIÇA have pushed and pulled against expectations with albums tackling female emancipation (2013’s Shulamith) and urban decay (2016’s United Crushers). Aside from their recorded output POLIÇA have forged an unbeatable reputation as a live force selling out The Troxy and Roundhouse in London and gracing the stages of Glastonbury, Coachella and Lollapalooza.

POLIÇA are Channy Leaneagh, dual drummers Drew Christopherson and Ben Ivascu, bassist Chris Bierden and producer Ryan Olson. POLIÇA are confirmed to play the following shows, which includes the second of two dates with New Order:

21 April – Greek Theatre (early show) – Berkeley, CA *
21 April – Cornerstone (late show) – Berkeley, CA
11 May – Upstream Music Fest – Seattle, WA
16 June – Eaux Claires – Eau Claire, WI
28 June – Wayhome Music & Arts – Toronto, ON
