ON THE TURNTABLE: Underworld - Barbara, Barbara, we face a shining future

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll be posting my most loved records and most recent purchases right here for your perusal every week.

Amazingly titled, ninth studio album from the always brilliant duo, released in 2016. Underworld albums are like epic journeys, taking the listener through various soundscapes along the way, sometimes frantic, sometimes more chilled, and this album lays in the latter for the most part. ‘Barbara…’ was released 8 years after its predecessor ‘, Barking’ and in that time, Karl worked on two albums with Eno, which definitely shows on the B side. Long may their otherworldly bleeps continue.
