ON THE TURNTABLE: Stereolab - Emperor Tomato Ketchup

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll be posting my most loved records and most recent purchases right here for your perusal every week.

Reissue of the fourth album from the ever-evolving London based Avant Pop collective. Originally released in ‘96, in the midst of Britpop, it opens with the absolutely gorgeous ‘Metronomic Underground’, and from that moment in, anybody with the ability to hear should be hooked in.

The album darts from Krautrock to 60s Pop throughout French and English, never failing to surprise and delight. One of the most original and underrated bands on the planet.
