ON THE TURNTABLE: Marvin Gaye - You’re The Man

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll be posting my most loved records and most recent purchases right here for your perusal every week.

Long lost collection of songs that should’ve been released as a follow up to the immaculate ‘What’s Going On’ in 1972 but weren’t for one reason or another.

As you can expect from that period, lyrically, it’s political, conscious and of course romantic, musically it’s in the same vein as ‘What’s Going On’ with stunning vocals and percussion, ‘I’m Going Home’ and ‘You’re The Man’ being standout tracks. This legend continues to amaze from beyond the grave.
