ON THE TURNTABLE: Main Source - Breaking Atoms

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll be posting my most loved records and most recent purchases right here for your perusal every week.

30th Anniversary edition of the much-lauded debut album from the Toronto/NYC crew. They don’t call this era of Hip Hop ‘The Golden Age’ for no reason, much like their friends A Tribe Called Quest & De La Soul, the mood here is mellow, funky rhythms and old Soul samples.

The album also features a very early appearance from New York’s finest, Nas, on the sublime ‘Live At The Barbeque’. A stone-cold classic reproduced on blue vinyl and remastered with bonus tracks and remixes, what’s not to love?
