ON THE TURNTABLE: Hard Feelings - Hard Feelings

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll be posting my most loved records and most recent purchases right here for your perusal every week.

Hard Feelings is the much-anticipated debut album from the collaboration between Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard & Horse Meat Disco’s Amy Douglas.  Synth-Pop meets Disco House on this beautifully produced slice of Hi-NRG fun. Remember that first nightclub experience that was slightly enhanced? The one that made you stay up all night chatting nonsense with anyone that would listen? That’s what this album sounds like.

There may only be eight tracks here, but each one is like a 12-inch remix (it isn’t, but it sounds like it could be). It’s like a mini DJ set of your favourite House tunes that you’ve never heard before. Amy Douglas’s vocals are so on point that she could take your eye out with them, and Joe Goddard has done a stunning job on production duties.

The whole album is sublime, but its crowning glory is penultimate CHOON ‘Holding On Too Long’. It’s House music perfection and, without a doubt, my favourite track of the year. Go and buy this album and put a smile on your chops.
