ON THE TURNTABLE: Gene – Olympian

ON THE TURNTABLE: Gene - Olympian

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll be posting my most loved records and most recent purchases right here for your perusal every week.

The recent reissue of the debut album from the unsung Britpop hero’s. Olympian has aged so beautifully and is, without doubt, my favourite album of that genre from that era. Sure, there were always The Smiths comparisons, but they never outwardly stole from them, and every track on here aches with passion of a love lost. The musicianship, the vocals, the lyrics, they had the lot. The best album The Smiths never released.
