ON THE TURNTABLE: Children of Zeus - Balance

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll be posting my most loved records and most recent purchases right here for your perusal every week.

Newly released second album from the Mancunian Soul/Hip Hop duo. This is the sound of Summer, laid back heavy grooves, perfectly produced and beautifully performed. Tyler and Konny work so well together, and no one else is making Neo-Soul and Hip Hop as good as this at the moment; they’ve got this sound perfected and are quite clearly leading the way.

If you loved ‘Travel Light’, then you’re going to love this too. Whilst it’s similar in sound, the vibe and lyrics are deeper on certain tracks such as ‘The Most Humblest Of All Time, Ever’ and lead single ‘No Love Song’.

Manchester has always been well known around the globe for its music scene, but that tends to be for Indie and Alternative bands. It’s so refreshing to see another side of the city’s talent on the world stage. Long may it continue.
