Sophomore album from the dream team duo of The National’s Aaron Dessner and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon. Considering Bon Iver and The National are my two favourite Alt Rock/Folk/Americana bands, it comes as no surprise I’m a huge fan of this album. Everything these guys touch turns to gold, and this release is certainly no exception.
It’s literally a mix of The National and Bon Iver’s songwriting and production skills with added friends along for the ride, including Taylor Swift, Ben Howard; This Is Kit, Sharon Van Etten and Fleet Foxes, to name a few. Gorgeous sounds, created by the best in the business, it’s music porn to my ears, not to be confused with porn music.
