MUSE – DEBUT AT NUMBER ONE AROUND THE WORLD

DRONES, the seventh studio album from UK-trio MUSE debuted at Number One on the Billboard Top 200 Chart selling 84,200 units its first week. The album, released on June 8th by Warner Bros. Records, is the band’s the first Number One album in the United States.

In addition to the United States, Drones also debuted atop the charts in 19 countries around the world including: United Kingdom, France, Japan (Int’l Chart), Australia, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, New Zealand, Ireland, Argentina, Belgium, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong (Int’l Chart), Korea (Int’l Chart), Portugal, Russia (main chart), Singapore, and Taiwan (main chart). It also debuted in the Top 3 in Italy (#2), Canada (#2), Austria (#2), Greece (#2), Germany (#3), and Indonesia (#3).

Muse is Matt Bellamy, Dominic Howard and Chris Wolstenholme. Since forming in 1994, they have released seven studio albums selling upwards of 17 million albums worldwide and won numerous awards around the world including: a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album; an American Music Award; and the O2 Silver Clef presented by Queen’s Roger Taylor and Brian May. They have won press awards for Best Live Act, Best Album and Best British Band, and they have received an Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement. Muse’s last studio album, The 2nd Law, topped the charts around the world and spawned multiple hit singles including “Madness” which holds the record on the Modern Rock charts in the United States with a staggering 19 weeks at Number One.
