The band from Wales that combines very different genres of music – from heavy metal to reggae – has visited Nottingham as a part of their ”Show Time Tour”. Skindred is one of the most beloved UK bands that always have multiple sold-out venues during their tours. Their gig at Rock City was no exception.

The venue was filled to the brim. The floor area, sides and balcony were all full of excited people. Some of them attended live music events for the first time since pandemic lockdowns, and you could feel it. Skindred’s performance began even before the band came on stage.

AC/DC’s ”Thunderstruck” started playing when the lights turned off to outline that the band would come up on stage at any time. After AC/DC’s classic song, Star War’s ”Imperial March” started playing. Fans of the band knew that the fun was about to begin. The first song, ”Stand for Something” made people jump and dance like crazy. Charismatic Skindred frontman Benji Webbe encouraged people to dance and have fun with his remarks and energy.

The second song, ”Rat Race” kept the energy going until the third song, ”Doom Riff” – during which the venue went berserk with singing along and jumping up and down. During ”That’s My Jam” people continued singing together with Benji who’s changes of outfits proved that every song and performance was meticulously thought through.

The band played the best bangers of their discography. ”Ninja”, ”Sound The Siren”, ”Kill The Power” and ”Pressure” played after were all superb. To quote Skindred’s frontman, the gig was ”a celebration of life” after lockdowns and the next song, ”Saying It Now”, paid an emotional tribute to the difficult times.

Right after that, Skindred’s most well-known single, ”Nobody” from their first album, started playing, and it was a grand culmination of everything that was happening until this point during the gig. Singing along, dancing, jumping, and the band’s energy – everything was on another level. Encore song ”Warning” was used almost to say that the music scene is ready to be back, and it’s now louder than ever.

With this gig, Skindred has answered why they are one of the most exciting UK bands even to this day. We encourage you to attend the band’s gig when you have a chance because it won’t be ”just another gig” that you’d attend. It will leave you energised and motivated to keep going.
