Legendary British vocalist PAUL CARRACK to stream special festive concert this Christmas Eve

The legendary British vocalist Paul Carrack (Mike + The Mechanics, Ace) has announced he is to stream a very special performance of festive favourites this Christmas Eve.

Billed as ‘Christmas with Paul Carrack’, Carrack is backed throughout the two-hour concert by the GRAMMY Award-winning orchestra SWR Big Band & Strings, whose thirty-piece line-up feature some of Europe’s finest jazz and classical musicians.

The setlist sees Carrack explore the classic Christmas songbook, a selection of jazz standards and a sprinkling of his own live staples such as ‘How Long’ and ‘Over My Shoulder’ as you’ve never heard them before.

Originally filmed by fourteen cameras in stunning 4K at the Royal Academy of Music in London in December 2019, the concert also features a specially filmed introduction from Carrack. Starting from 8 pm UK time on Christmas Eve, ‘Christmas with Paul Carrack’ will be available to stream worldwide and replay for a week via smart TVs and phones, laptops, PCs, tablets and games consoles.

In addition, each ticket purchased will come with two bonus live concerts to enjoy for free.

The first of the bonus concerts is ‘Soulfully Distanced’, a full-production performance recorded at the magnificent Victoria Hall in Leeds in September this year. First streamed for a week in October, the concert provides another chance for fans around the world to see Carrack’s show for his 2020 world tour that was cut short due to the pandemic. This performance features Carrack and his incredible six-piece touring band performing an immaculate set of his classic hits, plus songs from his most recent studio albums ‘These Days’ and ‘Soul Shadows’ and a very special rendition of Buddy Holly’s ‘Raining in My Heart’.

The second bonus concert is ‘Another Side of Paul Carrack (ft. The SWR Big Band & Strings)’, which was the product of a two-day television special recorded live at the state-of-the-art SWR TV studios in Stuttgart. Filmed in 2018 with multiple cameras, the performance attracted rave reviews when it was originally broadcast on mainstream TV in Germany. This set includes some classic swing tunes, Carrack’s own compositions, songs from Ray Charles and Nick Lowe, and an intimate version of ‘The Living Years’, showcasing Carrack’s incredible musical versatility as he adapts effortlessly to yet another genre of music.

Carrack said, “I hope this special concert with the incredible SWR Big Band & Strings will bring a little extra joy during the festive season. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and collaborate with this world-class band. We hope to see everyone back on the road as soon as possible in 2021. Until then, Merry Christmas everybody. Stay safe.”
