Kate Boy made their mark in the UK last year with the release of ‘Self Control’ and ‘Open Fire’, now the Stockholm based alternative electro poppers are returning with the release of their new single ‘Higher’ on 27th April via Fiction Records.
After premiering on Time.com, Kate Boy have unveiled their enchanting new video for ‘Higher’. Directed by Ben Strebel (Gorgon City and Phoenix), the video echoes the song’s core message of striving for equality in a sometimes dark and challenging world. Shot in the stunning scenery of Northern Sweden, it follows several characters as they fight to throw off their oppressive shackles in order to see just how stunning their surroundings are. On the video Kate Boy says, ‘they one by one are able to see the world as it should be, vibrant and colourful, something they never knew could exist.’

Kate Boy are a Stockholm based trio (Kate Akhurst, Hampus Nordgren and Markus Dextegen) who have been making waves across the globe, armed with their effortlessly catchy electronic beats and sultry vocal hooks. After signing to Fiction Records last year Kate Boy have been in the studio writing and recording their self-produced debut album, following up on their critically acclaimed tracks ‘Northern Lights’, ‘The Way We Are’ and ‘In Your Eyes’ which received praise from the likes of SPIN, V Magazine, Vogue and Pitchfork.
Last year saw Kate Boy electrify audiences across Europe with their remarkable live shows including London shows at The Lexington and XOYO as well as various shows throughout the UK, rest of Europe and a phenomenal set at Secret Garden Party.
