Zimbabwean born Karen Mav is a powerful and passionate singer. Born into a gospel-centred family, Karen was raised surrounded by music and cites Mariah Carey and Tina Turner as her early influences.
After moving to England in 2001 at the age of nine, Karen’s passion for music blossomed through her studies. She obtained top grades in A Level music and graduated with a Music degree at the renowned Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.
Described as a strong RnB /soul singer, made a name for herself in The X Factor 2015, where her first audition was described by BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw as “phenomenal”. Karen sailed through the early stages of the competition but left the process at the notorious 6-chair challenge. Her exit was met with regret from music mogul Simon Cowell and outcry in the UK's tabloid press. Karen's X Factor experience has only served to encourage her in her quest to establish herself as a professional recording artist.
