JOHN McCULLAGH & THE ESCORTS – Line up Summer festival shows and live dates

JOHN MCCULLAGH & THE ESCORTS: to play prestigious London live headline debut

Following a tour of intimate UK venues surrounding the release of the ‘New Born Cry’ LP, JOHN McCULLAGH & THE ESCORTS will now take the songs of their first album together to bigger audiences as they set their sights on a series of festival appearances this summer.

With a ripping live set ready in waiting for the crowds of Blackthorn Music Festival in Stockport on the 24th July, a busy August will see the four piece take their summer-primed guitar pop to the stages of Kendal Calling (1st Aug), Scunthorpe’s Party In The Pines (8th Aug) and Yalding’s Vicars Picnic Festival (29th Aug).

Speaking about the summer dates, McCullagh said:

“Glad the album’s finally out there so people can hear it. Loved the dates we’ve just played and to play Doncaster was a highlight for me, so looking forward to playing the festivals in the summer and to keep promoting the album into the autumn.”

In addition to the Summer festival shows, plans are under way for John McCullagh & the Escorts to play a number of UK shows later in the year, with Scottish gigs at Hard Rock Cafe, Glasgow (23rd Oct) and Aberdeen’s Cafe Drummonds the following night already booked up.

Earlier this year, Doncaster’s highly acclaimed teenage troubadour John McCullagh returned with new entourage The Escorts and a brand new collection of songs to boot in ‘New Born Cry’. Recorded at John Power’s (Cast / The La’s) Liverpool studio and featuring the man himself on production duties, the album featured singles ‘Towerland Lullaby’ and a remixed version of ‘Box Of Tricks’, as well as current ‘She’s Calling Me’.

Influenced by the likes of Donovan, Marc Bolan, Paul Weller and Johnny Cash, McCullagh has been playing guitar and writing songs since he was twelve, and his latent talent for his beloved six-string was soon followed by mastery of the harmonica. When McCullagh was just fifteen years old, he became one of the first signings to music industry legend Alan McGee’s label, 359 Music.
