The NYC-based nugaze artist releases a new single and music video from her upcoming debut solo album. Written and produced by JV, Never Let You Down is a song about suffering love, broken promises, over-analyzing mistakes born of desire, self reflection and accepting responsibility.

Vee cites a favorite quote from Anais Nin as akin to the lyrical content of her new single: “We are like sculptors, constantly carving out of others the image we long for, need, love or desire, often against reality, against their benefit, and always in the end a disappointment, because it does not fit them”. The video (shot and directed by collaborator Katrin Albert; her fourth video with JV) features Vee caught between the desolation of an autumnal forest and the fast-paced melancholy of New York City.

Albert describes the video as “…visually inspired by something out of a Tarkovsky film…where fantasy can also be interpreted as magical realism,” she continues that working with Vee is, “bliss, because we communicate openly and share a similar sense of finding beauty in pain…so it’s easy to come together to combine music and imagery”.
