A rallying call for the downhearted and dispossessed, popular singer-songwriter, Jamie Webster bounces towards the release of his debut album by releasing Common People, a pocket-sized shock of optimism in under three-minutes, OUT NOW on Modern Sky. Caught in the headlights of international recognition, with his track, This Place, being chosen for global TV playback in time to Liverpool Football Club lifting the Premier League trophy, the single also arrives as Webster looks ahead to his biggest, ever UK & Ireland Tour.
Successfully crossing regional divides, no longer the sole preserve of proud Liverpudlians, Webster looks ahead to 13-dates in February and March 2021 in which to reacquaint himself with fans in a post-lockdown world, including shows at Manchester Academy 3 and London’s Oslo. His previously SOLD OUT homecoming show at Liverpool’s O2 Academy is moved and given increased capacity at The University of Liverpool.
In Common People, typical of an artist completely and unashamedly absorbed in the shared experiences of every working person, Webster sets out to break through the humdrum of the daily grind with a message of unity and hope. Poetry from between rows of joined houses, lines such as: “We try so hard to achieve emancipation / Sir, we were born to be this way” train light on both the oppressed and the oppressor, casting doubt on where the power lies, if it’s the people who are the ones who still have all of the hope, love and pride.

Recorded at Parr Street Studios and produced by Rich Turvey (Blossoms, Courteeners, She Drew The Gun), Common People follows the hugely popular singles, Living For Yesterday, Weekend In Paradise, Something’s Gotta Give, Grinding The Gears and This Place, each release expanding Webster’s family of committed fans. Each track has been lifted from his hotly-anticipated, debut album, We Get By, released on Fri 21 August 2020 on Modern Sky.
Influenced by rabble-rousing, socially-in-tune songwriters like Shack’s Mick Head, The La’s and Echo and The Bunnymen, Webster was listed by the Liverpool Echo journalists as the 11th most influential person shaping the city’s modern culture in their 2020 Power List.
Completed by a full band, Webster now counts as comrades Lightning Seeds members Jim Sharrock (drums) and Tim Cunningham (bass) alongside Danny Murphy (guitars), who also backs Mick Head as a member of his Red Elastic Band.

Webster originally grew in renown for providing new soundtracks to Liverpool Football Club’s rising fortunes, playing to 60,000 fans attending the 2019 Champions League Final in Madrid and performing around the world, as far afield as Australia and Dubai.
