IST IST release their second album The Art Of Lying via Kind Violence Records on 26th November. The Art of Lying is an emotional progression from the indie, physical and vinyl chart success of debut album Architecture.

Singles It Stops Where It Starts and Extreme Greed take the band’s already harsh themes and sounds and using those as building blocks for even more tension and pressure; the former a synth-led throb and the latter a fuzzed-out stomper made for stadiums. Frontman Adam Houghton’s baritone vocals remain a cornerstone of the album, again coupled with driving drums beats and careering baselines.

The album was written and recorded throughout 2020’s multiple lockdowns, a period bereft of live shows due to the global pandemic, which allowed IST IST to create something inspired and eclectic. It still retains their distinct and direct sound, but it’s bigger and bolder than before. The cover for the album features the Eye of Shinjuku, found in a Tokyo train station.

Greg Calbi (David Bowie, The National, Interpol, Bon Iver) mastered the album, with fellow Manchester label Scruff of the Neck also on board again to service the album worldwide.

IST IST will tour the UK in November and December to mark the album’s release, with the dates including a sold-out show at the prestigious Trades Club in Hebden Bridge and a hometown show at Manchester Academy 2.
