Irish rock duo Dea Matrona today release their brand new single ‘Red Button’. Following on from their previous single, ‘So Damn Dangerous’, ‘Red Button’ carries their newly crafted sound of driving guitar riffs and infectious vocal melodies. With a moody and direct tone, it details watching the world fall apart around you. The band’s varied musical influences are also on full display here, ranging from HAIM and Royal Blood to Blondie and Queens of the Stone Age.
The band say about the track: “Red Button is written from the perspective of observing the world tearing itself apart and being brought to a self-inflicted end in an apocalyptic state. It’s dark, it’s serious and it’s probably our favourite song we’ve written yet”
Listen to ‘Red Button’ – BELOW:
Dea Matrona comprises two school friends, Mollie McGinn and Orlaith Forsythe, who grew up busking to their favourite rock ‘n’ roll anthems on the streets of Belfast. Covering the likes of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta Love’ and Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘Homeward Bound’, they have reached an online community of 250,000 followers and racked up over 8 million views on YouTube. With their hard-hitting riffs and musical intensity, they have established a rare, sensational sound – gritty and real but loaded with melody and style.
After a successful tour of Europe, they played a multitude of festivals across the Summer, including Rock Werchter and Retro C Trop and supported Eagles of Death Metal on their European tour.
Dea Matrona will play a special show at a brand new venue, The Lower Third, in London tonight and they have also recently been announced as the support act for Kris Barras Band across the UK in January and February 2023, as well as Eurosonic Festival. Tour dates are below:

A couple of things. First, congratulations on the success you so rightly deserve, everything you do is so refreshing compared to most modern music. You blend your own music with earlier rock brilliantly. Nice to see the diversity of venues you will be appearing at early next year, you will be warmly welcomed in my home, Scotland but sadly missed where I live now, Tamworth. Please continue to do your thing and all the very best for the future. Kind regards and God bless, Gordon, a 67-year-old fan.
Great song and on the mark for today’s situation in the world. A rocker for sure.
