Legendary Seattle grunge band Pearl Jam came to London to perform for two nights at BST Hyde Park. On Saturday, the 9th of July, Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready and Matt Cameron took the stage for the second time and gave a spectacular performance that included surprise appearances and emotional speeches.

The former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer was on stage filming and taking pictures of the band.

The Beatles’ ‘All You Need Is Love’ started playing right before Pearl Jam took the stage, setting the positive tone for the evening. Among the tunes in the setlist were ‘Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town’, ‘Black’ and ‘Animal’ – alongside all-time greats’ Garden’ and ‘Alive’.

For a rendition of Neil Young’s ‘Throw Your Hatred Down’, Eddie Vedder and the boys were joined on stage by The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. In between songs, Eddie spoke about horrible gun violence in the US, paid tribute to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, dedicated a moment of thought to the war in Ukraine, and thanked everyone for coming to their London shows.
