GRIZZLY BEAR - Premiere 'Mourning Sound' video from new album 'Painted Ruins'

Grizzly Bear has released a new video for their song ‘Mourning Sound’, the lead single from their forthcoming album ‘Painted Ruins’ (out this Friday, 8/18 via Columbia/RCA Records). Directed by Beatrice Pegard and filmed in Paris, the video features Clémence Poésy (Harry Potter, In Bruges, 127 Hours) and is a playful, pastel-drenched commentary on women’s liberation.

The band will perform “Mourning Sound” on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert this Thursday, 8/17, their late night debut for the new record. The song is currently in the top 15 at AAA radio.

‘Painted Ruins’ has earned widespread early praise from the New York Times, NPR Music and SPIN, who declared, “Grizzly Bear strike gold.” Esquire called Painted Ruins “their most mature album yet,” Rolling Stone dubbed the music “ornate” and “spellbinding,” and in their 9/10 review, Under the Radar said, “the album is the sound of a band cohering as never before with a formidable swagger.” The album has earned 4/5 stars from Mojo and Q Magazine and 9/10 stars from Clash and Uncut, whilst Paste Quarterly declared, “Grizzly Bear made an album for the times: something wild and alive, bucking assumptions and beaming color, their best yet.”
