GOLDFORD shares new single ‘Dreams of Summertime’ - Listen Now!

While they reflect the global anxiety instigated by COVID, Goldford’s previous singles ‘Ride The Storm’ and ‘Walk With Me’ pay tribute to the bonds that hold our communities together. They’re both songs that express the essential message that there are people willing to support you through your struggles and that all things will pass. Addressing the unsettling era we’re living through, they’ve built a rapport with audiences, giving the songwriter his first playlist at Radio 2, an extended run on the upper reaches of the Shazam chart, and a new wave of acclaim.

Goldford today shares his latest single ‘Dreams of Summertime’, which is the title track from his new EP which follows next Friday, June 4th.

The craft and compassion that he has shown in his recent singles is again present in ‘Dreams of Summertime’, but it’s distinguished by a subtle shift in theme. Everyone is battling issues which may not be apparent on the surface, and in many cases there’s no blame to administer either. The song presents glimpses of such stories, whether it’s Jenny, who can’t share her problems with her mother, or the family who lost everything after a stock market crash. Summertime being a metaphor for better days.

Goldford’s evocative lyricism is delivered with his tender rasp, while the production blends vintage Stax inspired soul and R&B with the snare of a hip-hop beat. As with the rest of the EP, ‘Dreams of Summertime’ was recorded in Los Angeles with the Grammy-nominated duo Likeminds (John Legend, Ray BLK).

“Dreams of Summertime is a song about knowing that no matter how hard things get, the seasons will change and we will heal”, says Goldford.

Both ‘Dreams of Summertime’ and ‘Ride The Storm’ feature on Goldford’s upcoming EP – the first of two he recorded during these sessions – which is available to pre-order or pre-save here. It’s a collection of intensely personal tales of the trials and tribulations of modern life, and how we can learn from our challenges. It doesn’t provide any trite easy answers, but hopefully, it can inspire people to keep battling and in time emerge all the stronger for the experience.

Appropriately, Goldford’s desire to pursue music didn’t follow a conventional path. He only discovered he had a voice while at college and by his late twenties he had a steady management career in Chicago. But he gave it up to reinvent himself as a musician, first in Nashville and then in Los Angeles. And people responded. His early track ‘Upside Down’ hit 30 million streams, which he followed by constantly working as a go-to collaborator for the likes of Kygo, Aloe Blacc and Lost Frequencies. His latest music is the result of working without external distractions or pressure, instead focusing purely on the truth as he sees it.
