Editors return with a new single and an extensive run of festival appearances for the summer alongside shows with Manic Street Preachers in the UK. Having released their fifth studio album, ‘In Dream’ last year, a record that singer Tom Smith remarked upon as an exercise in making music that was ‘both pop and experimental’, the band ended the year with a run of high profile and high selling dates across Europe and the UK including three sold out nights at Amsterdam’s Heineken Music Hall and a sell-out London return at Hammersmith’s Apollo. ‘Forgiveness’ amply demonstrates that desire to ignore genres by mixing a loose dancefloor beat with spiraling melodies and a highly politicized lyric.

‘In Dream’ was yet another musical shift for a band that have never relied on their past glories to create new music. Leaving behind the widescreen rock of previous album, ‘The Weight Of Your Love, the band took themselves to Crear in Western Scotland to self-produce a collection that references early electronic music and current pop simultaneously, ‘a mutation that suits them’, according to THE GUARDIAN in their review. With MOJO awarding the album a four-star review and the EVENING STANDARD matching that score and declaring the band ‘on track again’, Editors can rightly claim to be one of the most recognized and successful bands to have emerged from the UK in the last decade.

As has often been noted, Editors are not just a UK success story. Having scored Top Ten chart placings across Europe (including numerous Number Ones in Belgium), the band once again demonstrate their global appeal with a summer full of massive outdoor shows and headline festival moments.
