Cork alt folk band BOA MORTE release video for new single – ‘Hard to Know’

Boa Morte

Cork alt-folk band Boa Morte make a welcome return with ‘Hard to Know’ the first single to be taken from their forthcoming new album ‘The Total Space’.

The Boa Morte fundamentals are all here; close harmonies and lyrics that evoke a time and place – however, the atmosphere hints that the band are exploring new ground since their widely acclaimed 2019 offering ‘Before There Was Air’, a new sound palate that provides the merest insight into what is to come on the next album ‘The Total Space’.

The Total Space sees Boa Morte edge deeper into the woods of ambient, drone and synthesised sound with little to guide them but their innate melodic compass and instinct for unorthodox song.

Daniel Presley, the perma-nomadic Texan producer, flew in to safeguard the Boa Morte fundamentals: emotive yet unsentimental vocals; a disquieting ease with space and silence; percussive interventions on drum-shell, tom-rim and cymbal-cup; an abhorrence of rhythm guitar; harmonies that add rather than dilute personality, and a bloody-minded patience when it comes to pacing.
