BELLE & SEBASTIAN announce great line-up additions for their 2nd November Clyde Auditorium SAVE THE CHILDREN benefit gig

Belle & Sebastian are delighted to announce that Franz Ferdinand have joined the bill for the benefit gig they have organised in aid of Save the Children, taking place at the Clyde Auditorium on 2nd November.

At the Clyde Auditorium, Belle & Sebastian and Franz Ferdinand will be joined, as previously announced, by Simple Minds’ Jim Kerr & Charlie Burchill, Mogwai, Young Fathers and comedian Josie Long, with all profits from the show going to support Save the Children’s Child Refugee Crisis Appeal. In addition to the main show, it has been announced that Optimo will play at a separate after-show party at Clyde Built Bar to raise further funds for the appeal, while the artist David Shrigley will contribute a specially designed artwork in honour of the occasion that will be available for sale in the shape of various merchandise at the show.

The band said: “Belle and Sebastian, humbly, and with a good will, wish to stand behind the displaced peoples of Syria in their brave attempt to find a better life in Europe. If governments won’t help them, then the people must. Rock on.”

Neil Mathers, Save the Children’s Head of Scotland said, “From the moment that Stuart Murdoch called us and said that Belle & Sebastian wanted to help, we knew it was going to be a fantastic gig, but we’re blown away by this line- up. The ticket price will go straight to our Child Refugee Crisis Appeal, so we can help some of the most desperate families in the world flee war and start a better life for their children.

A crisis like this truly demonstrates just how amazing people are and we’ve been overwhelmed by the compassion that Scots have shown. We’re so excited about this amazing gig, it’s going to be a fantastic night – get your tickets!”

The Clyde Auditorium show and Clyde Built Bar after-party are on general sale now.

Belle & Sebastian will also play a warm-up gig at The Alahambra Theatre, Dunfermline on November 1st 2015.

Tickets for the shows are available from www.gigsinscotland.com or 0844 999 990.
