BEAU DIAKO shares new single 'Alone' ft. Ego Ella May

The rising British / quarter-Ukrainian artist Beau Diako has been amplifying his reputation of late, his recent releases featuring guests such as Bas, Etta Bond, Rad Museum, Tobi Tunis and emawk has lead to tastemaker tips from The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland, Notion and support from Gemma Bradley on Radio 1. He continues to build interest ahead of the April 1st release of his debut album ‘Nylon’ by sharing his new single ‘Alone’, which features Ego Ella May.

Bridging the rarely explored space between lo-fi bedroom pop, neo-soul and contemporary jazz, ‘Alone’ captures a fresh angle to Beau’s unorthodox artistry. His production has a hazy after-hours vibe, while his intricate yet unobtrusive guitar complements the laidback warmth of the sound. It’s the perfect setting for Ego Ella May’s graceful topline, which drifts calmly from whispered and winsome to floaty, fluttering harmonies

Beau Diako says, “I’m excited to share another song from my upcoming album ‘Nylon’, something a little more dark and moody. I’m honoured to team up with the amazing Ego Ella May from London for this track, she captured the mood so perfectly and her lyrics and vocals are beautiful.

‘Alone’ is a song that I wanted to keep simple and give space for the atmosphere, to let it flow through with Ego’s vocals. The track also features some flute from the incredible Kasia Konstance, which provided the perfect finishing touch.”

Ego Ella May adds, “Alone’ is a song about craving solitude in the midst of company. It’s about being with others but secretly wishing you could be alone doing your own thing, and also slightly about the guilt that comes with that knowing”.

Between ‘Alone’ and the recent tracks ‘Fretless’, ‘Nylon’, ‘Birthmark’ and ‘Settle Down’, Beau Diako has hinted at the range of exploratory sounds that simmer within his debut album. There will be more surprises to come as the album is unveiled, while other guests include Galimatias, Jordana and Tennyson.

Now earning acclaim for his creative collaborations, it’s a trait that has informed Beau Diako’s music from the start. His debut EP ‘Flutter’ featured Yvette Young and emawk, while subsequent collabs included Kasia Konstance and Sampology. Playing the guitar provided his first passion in music, and it’s a skill he also deploys as a member of Tennyson’s live band.
