BBC Northern Ireland goes on the road with Snow Patrol, TONIGHT: BBC One at 10.35pm

SNOW PATROL: CONFIRM Northern Ireland tour dates

For a quarter of a century, from small gigs to the biggest arenas in the world, Northern Irish rockers Snow Patrol have lived life on tour buses, aeroplanes and in hotels.

In late 2018, after a break of nearly seven years, the band went back on the road for a tour with Ed Sheeran. Filmed exclusively – and with a level of access never granted before – BBC Northern Ireland travels with Snow Patrol to America for the autumn leg of the tour, where they perform in Dallas, Mexico City and New Orleans before returning home for two triumphant shows at Belfast’s SSE Arena.

From needing a police escort in Dallas to doing an entire concert in fancy dress, and Gary, Nathan and Johnny performing a one-off acoustic show, Snow Patrol: 25 Years On The Road illustrates just how far the band has come since forming in Dundee back in the early 1990s.

As well as the music, the group talk openly about the pressures of fame, more than a fair share of personal ups and downs, their love of home, and regaining their bond with one another after difficult times. They also reveal the challenges of a quarter century of touring, writing massive chart hits such as Chasing Cars, Run, and their excitement at performing their third major concert in Ward Park, Bangor this summer.

Presented by Colin Murray, this access-all-areas documentary is a backstage pass to the real world of a touring rock juggernaut.

Filmed and produced by Paul McClean and Gary McCutcheon, Snow Patrol: 25 Years On The Road – BBC Arts NI presents, TONIGHT at 10.35pm on BBC One Northern Ireland.
