ANDREA BALENCY ON UK TOUR with NLF3 for Oui Love, French Music Showcase

Since her breakthrough single ‘You’ve Never Been Alone’ and subsequent debut EP ‘Walls’, which was released in the summer to widespread critical acclaim, rising Franco-Mexican producer/instrumentalist Andrea Balency is further consolidating her high ranking status amongst the new wave of pioneering modern electronic artists.

A popular figure within electronic circles, Balency has welcomed opportunities to collaborate with a number of the genre’s conquerors, both classic and contemporary. A particular collaborative highlight of Balency’s is a vocal feature on the FKA Twigs / We Are Shining track ‘Breaks’, not to mention her work with the likes of French synth-wave hero Colder; Los Angeles electro wunderkind Salva; regular James Blake collaborator Airhead; New York based rapper Kilo Kish and many more.

Now Berlin based music producer, Robot Koch, has provided a stellar rework for Balency’s standout EP track ‘Crystals’. Koch has been releasing his own original material on labels like Project Mooncircle, Bpitch Control and Four Music, and has also been a successful producer, remixer and collaborator for other musicians like Tensnake, Norah Jones, Bassnectar and Max Richter, achieving gold and platinum selling records and even the German Music Composers Award 2014, for the electronic genre.

This new remix comes in conjunction with Balency’s debut UK tour run, as a headline act for official French culture exports’ ‘Oui Love’ showcase, as well as the announcement of her 2014 CMJ showcase. With appearances at SXSW, Sonar, Calvi on the Rocks, and support slots with the likes of James Blake, Airhead, Inc., Au Revoir Simone, Mount Kimbie and The Cure already under her belt, Andrea Balency is building a considerable wealth of high end live experiences for such a young career.

UK – ‘Oui Love’

Oui Love is about exciting French artists touring the UK with support from bureauexport (the French music export office) & the Institut Français. Oui Love launched in 2009 with a breakout 12-date tour of the UK showcasing the best up- and-coming French music to UK audiences and has since featured the likes of Jupiter, Housse de Racket, Team Ghost and Anoraak.

With Oui Love, the bureauexport and the Institut Français want to demonstrate that the depth of French talent runs far deeper than marquee names like Phoenix, M83, Justice or Woodkid, and the Oui Love tours put French artists on the road, allowing them to connect with audiences the length and breadth of the UK. Oui Love also aims to team French acts up with emerging young British talent – for example 2010 saw Oui Love promote an extremely successful tour of the UK featuring French bands The Shoes, Bewitched Hands on the Top of Our Heads, Revolver and Curry & Coco, along with English student bands Bella Diem and Jimi’s Parade.

Re-vamped for 2014, Oui Love showcases the cutting-edge creativity and pop nous of France’s current French exports, featuring the exquisite dubstep-R ‘n’ B-pop hybrid of Andrea Balency and the chiming, Afro-tinged experimental grooves of NLF3. The artists will be joined on each date by a local support act.
