ALISON GOLDFRAPP shares title track from her debut solo album ‘Love Invention’

Synth-pop visionary Alison Goldfrapp today returns with the next piece of the puzzle from her highly anticipated debut solo album, sharing the cosmic new single “Love Invention”. The upcoming album will be released on the 12th of May via the coveted Skint Records.

“Love Invention” is bursting with filtered vocal effects and an infectious disco strut. Alison’s deepened, longtime fascination with pleasure vs restraint and (wo)man vs machine heavily informs the brand-new single. Heady themes, but here they are tackled with a new worldly-wise complexity and humour. The latest track follows the release of the tantalising electro stomp “NeverStop” and the acid-house hued “So Hard So Hot”, both of which were accompanied by a kaleidoscopic video vignette directed in collaboration with Mat Maitland (Big Active). “Love Invention” is adorned with a psychotropic visual – Watch BELOW:

“I was inspired by the idea of a machine or pill that gives you a feeling of complete euphoria. It’s also inspired by the quick-fix self-improvement culture you particularly find on social media that I find slightly humorous. I’m slightly cynical of it but fascinated by it as well.” – Alison Goldfrapp.

‘The Love Invention’ album, which was executively produced and co-written by Alison, marks her reawakening as a dancefloor priestess, in an intoxicating showcase of the disco and house influences that have always been at the heart of her musical DNA. It features collaborations with the likes of production mastermind Richard X (Pet Shop Boys, M.I.A.), James Greenwood (Daniel Avery, Kelly Lee Owens) and Toby Scott (The Gossip, Annie).

Alison’s dedicated approach to pop innovation has firmly situated her as the rare leftfield artist who has been embraced by the pop mainstream without diluting one iota of her individuality. Goldfrapp scaled the charts, with multi-platinum album sales, unforgettable Glastonbury performances, multiple Brit and Grammy nominations and an Ivor Novello for “Strict Machine”. The momentum towards her journey into solo music was solidified back in 2021, when she collaborated with Röyksopp on two tracks for their seventh album “Profound Mysteries”, culminating in the brightly shimmering track “Impossible”.

Alison will be showcasing ‘The Love Invention’ live at a sold-out debut headline show at HERE at Outernet on the 18th of May, alongside performances at Glastonbury, Primavera Sound, Beat-Herder, a sold-out headline show at Manchester International Festival, Somerset House Summer Series and many more.
