ALI HORN releases the ‘It Wears Off’ EP – Listen Now

Liverpool's ALI HORN unveils the video for new single, 'Dreamers' - Watch Now

Ali Horn ends 2019 with a change of pace for an artist whose 2019 has been defined by singles. Whilst June’s ‘Dreamers’ saw Ali transformed from Merseyside’s Best Kept Secret to 6 Music stalwart, recent release ‘Crooked Mind’ repeated the trick with plays on both 6 Music and Radio One amongst others.

To follow those three and a bit minute moments of skewed pop genius, the ‘It Wears Off’ EP gives a more rounded view of Ali’s music. Whilst both the singles are present and correct, across the six tracks a more expansive sound is revealed.

The lead track, ‘I Feel Wind’ will be familiar to anyone who caught Ali on his recent UK dates. Whilst, not quite the full nine-minute live version, it clocks in with six minutes of sunburst psychedelia and gorgeous melody; a headrush of hedonistic beauty.

Acting as an unconscious counterpoint to such an uplift, ‘Jesus Take The Wheel’ comes in like the perfect lullaby and settles into a sumptuous, laidback ballad, a country-tinged lament suffused in faded grandeur. Throw in the darkest love song of the year in the shape of ‘Modern Voodoo’ and the wave drenched, the effects-heavy shimmer of ‘Guiding Star’ and you have a pointer to the debut album that Ali is currently recording in Liverpool’s famous Parr Street Studios. The video for ‘I Feel Wind’ that you can see at INSERT URL was recorded during those sessions.

Alongside releasing some of the standout melodic moments of 2019, Ali’s music has been heard far and wide. A UNESCO sponsored trip to the East of Russia saw him play in Ulyanovsk and find time to film a video for ‘Dreamers’ that captured some of the madness of the trip, whilst he spent summer weeks travelling across France playing wherever the opportunity arose and on an impromptu busking expedition to New York. Having returned with a run of UK dates this autumn there is one last chance to see Ali in 2019 when he plays a special hometown Christmas show at The Arts Club in Liverpool on 18th December.
