Acclaimed guitarist, composer, producer CORY WONG releases new album ‘Elevator Music For An Elevated Mood’

Cory Wong – acclaimed guitarist, composer, producer (and Vulfpeck band member) – has released his new album ‘Elevator Music For An Elevated Mood’. The album’s lead single, ‘Golden’ feat. Cody Fry is out now – Listen BELOW.

New album ‘Elevator Music For An Elevated Mood’ comprises 11 tracks, all written by Cory Wong. His virtuoso guitar work can be heard throughout the record, along with his prowess as a songwriter for varying musical styles. Cory has also enlisted friends and collaborators to join him on the record, such as multi-platinum-selling saxophonist and jazz icon Dave Koz, UK singer/songwriter Phoebe Katis and Californian soul/jazz singer Rachel Mazer.

‘Elevator Music for an Elevated Mood’ is a continuation of Cory’s previous album ‘Motivational Music for the Syncopated Soul’, released last year. Cory explains:

“These two records pair well for me, and I had them both in mind when I started this whole project. As an artist of a guitar-forward project, it’s fun for me to think of new and exciting ways to share my voice as an artist and instrumentalist. The collaborations on these two albums help me to really show different sides of my musical influences and expressions. I love having albums that have half instrumental tunes, and half “songs”. It’s the kind of album that I like listening to. This release sparks the second half of this album cycle and is a fun way to make my opening statement into the next decade!”

Minneapolis-born Cory Wong began his career as a guitarist playing local live shows as solo artist, including joining a weekly jam hosted by Prince’s rhythm section. There, he crossed paths with Vulfpeck, the band who made headlines around the world for their silent debut album ‘Sleepify’ which earned them enough through Spotify royalties to put on a tour for their fans for free, prompting a permanent change in Spotify’s terms & conditions. Upon meeting Cory, Vulfpeck welcomed him as a frequent collaborator and member of the band, and later the group named their most popular instrumental track ‘Cory Wong’ in tribute. Lighting up the stage in the band everywhere they perform, including most recently at a sold-out Madison Square Garden, he remains a cornerstone of Vulfpeck’s storied gigs.

Since those early days, Cory has blossomed into a celebrated artist in his own right, releasing solo albums including last year’s Billboard top 20 record ‘Motivational Music For The Syncopated Soul’. He is also a founding member of The Fearless Flyers (another act within the wider ‘Vulf’ family) whose forthcoming third album is currently being produced by Cory himself. In 2019 Cory was announced as the face of Fender’s new American Ultra Stratocaster.

More will follow from Cory Wong this year.
