Track of the Day: THE PLEA - 'Wild One'

‘Wild One’ is the first single to be taken from The Plea’s new album ‘Propanoia’ which is due to be released later this year. The track is a stunning, string laden, acoustic number with a nod to The Verve in their ‘Urban Hymns’ era. It’s the perfect soundtrack to a late night on an open road with nothing but the car stereo for company, or could just as easily be heard first thing in the morning on your way to work! Simply put, it’s beautiful.

The brothers first album release was 2012’s critically acclaimed ‘The Dreamer’s Stadium’, which saw them featured on TV screens, radio shows and newspapers throughout Europe, receiving airplay from the likes of Graham Norton and Bob Harris and playlist slots on many international rock shows and stations. They had an extensive tour with the album and also secured support slots with Snow Patrol, The Gaslight Anthem and an appearance at Ireland’s Oxegen Festival.

After The Dreamer’s Stadium, Denny went to France and spent some time in studios recording demos alone, playing gigs with a side-project group he started when he befriended a French harmonica player. He wanted to simplify the sound, bring it back to where he started in music – basic guitar, bass, drums, vocals. A meet up with Dermot back in Donegal turned into a writing session and, together with songs they had both written separately, ‘Propanoia’ was born.

Much of the album was recorded in one week in Strabane at Neon Noise Studios with Peter ‘lighthand’ Doherty, and mastered in London by Tim from Fluid Mastering, who have mastered albums for artists including The Libertines, Jake Bugg, Biffy Clyro and Mumford and Sons. They also worked with Tim Wills, who co-wrote and recorded several of Ian Brown’s most successful solo albums.

So whether you’re on your way to work or out on the open road, lose yourself in the magnificence of ‘Wild One’.
